The
Reggae Boyz, Jamaica's national football team, first international game
was a three match tournament against Haiti in 1925. They won all
three games and after a few winning streaks against neighboring Caribbean
countries, the reggae boyz set their eyes on the world cup under the
coaching of Brazilian coach Jorge Penna. They entered and qualified for the world cup in
1965. As expected by their coach the reggae boys started out
with a seemingly endless wining streak scoring all the goals in
their victory matches. The boys ego soon got the best of them causing them
to suffer many defeats in later games, but by qualifying for the world cup
the reggae boyz became the first English speaking Caribbean country to
ever qualify for the world cup finals.
